Therma Hot Springs
A short climb from Therma village leads to four stone pools of thermal water at varying temperatures. Soak while the Aegean unfolds below — forest, beach and sea all in one breathtaking frame. This is also the trailhead for Mount Fengari; a hot bath after the long climb is deeply restorative.
Kipos Beach
A natural pebble beach tucked beneath mountain slopes — no sunbeds, no crowds, just the Aegean and the occasional sailing boat drifting by. One of our absolute favourites, especially in the late afternoon light. Bring beers, tsipouro and snacks. On the way back, stop at Taverna Karydies (Ano Meria 21) for a proper Samothrakian meal.
Mount Fengari Summit
An 8 km climb from the Therma hot springs through Mediterranean scrubland, ancient oak forest, then dramatic bare rock above the treeline — with the Aegean shimmering below the whole way. Pachia Ammos
A wide sandy bay with dramatic headland views. The western end has organised areas with shade, sunbeds and food. For a wilder experience, park on the eastern side of the lagoon where the beach thins out and coastal trails lead on to hidden coves.
Fonias Waterfalls
A stunning 4.5 km trail along the river between ancient trees and crystal-clear pools. At the end lies the First Waterfall of Fonias — a wide, deep pool fed by a dramatic cascade, perfect for swimming. The trail is relatively easy to the first waterfall; beyond it the gorge steepens and the pools grow wilder.
The Village Spring Trail
A short walk through Ano Kariotes leads to a beautiful rocky spring trail with crystal-clear pools and sweeping views to the Aegean — a perfect afternoon adventure right from your doorstep. Therma village, with its restaurants and nightlife, is just a short drive or evening stroll away.
